wiring is for the purpose of creating interest in the trunk and branches, setting branches in position, and ultimately create maturity to the appearance of the tree.
there are two steps to wiring. first step is putting on the wires, followed by bending and twisting the trunk or branches to desired shapes and positions. in order to maximize the ability of the wire to successfully bend and twist the trunk or branches, the direction in which the wire is wrapped around, must be considered.
as far as branching is concerned, we strive to have lateral emerging buds, as opposed to buds that grow upwards or downwards. therefore when a branch does not offer this, we can then twist this branch with proper wiring and positioning.
